Thoracic Surgical Procedures

·         Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS): This is minimally invasive for the diagnosis and treatment of lung or pleural diseases.

 

·         Thoracotomy: These procedures are done for various cancers and tumors of the lung

1.      Lobectomy

2.      Pneumonectomy

·         Mediastinotomy & Mediastinoscopy: These are limited procedures for the diagnosis and staging of various lung diseases and cancer.

1.      SubXyhoid Pericardial Window *

2.      Transthoracic Pericardial Window *

*Both of these procedures are performed for the diagnosis and treatment of pericardial effusions which is fluid around the heart

·         Bronchoscopy: This is done for the diagnosis of lung disease and the treatment of lung infections.

1.      Pacemaker Insertions and Pacemaker Generator Replacements: Pacemakers are inserted for various heart disorders and arrythmias or irregular heart beats.

2.      Tracheostomy: This is performed for chronic respiratory failure when the patient will require a long term assisted ventilation.
