FAWCETT WOUND MANAGEMENT CENTER

The Fawcett Wound Management Center treats those individuals with wounds that resist healing after months and even years of traditional treatment.

Chronic wounds caused by diabetes, poor circulation, and many other conditions keep over 3 million Americans from enjoying life to it's fullest. The multidisciplinary medical and clinical staff of Fawcett Wound Management has been providing specialized wound treatment to the public of Charlotte and Desoto Counties for over 8 years.

We successfully heal many patients that felt they had no hope of ever healing. Your first visit will involve obtaining a detailed health and wound history. All possible obstacles to your wound healing need to be identified so that an individualized plan of care can be developed.

First Visit
Our medical and clinical staff will evaluate your wound and general health. It is important that you bring a list of your medications and a brief medical and surgical history with you on your first visit. After your initial evaluation the doctor will discuss your plan of care. This may include vascular testing, x-rays, lab work and/ or cleaning of the wound. In addition, appropriate wound care will be prescribed by the physician.

Follow-up Visit
Follow up visits will be determined by the state of your wound(s). Initially, you may need follow-up appointments as often as every week, but once the wound(s) have shown significant progress, those appointments may be changed to every 2-3 weeks. On rare occasions, it may be necessary to have you return more frequently for significant changes in the wound(s).

Patient Participation
We at Wound Management believe in taking an Interdisciplinary approach to wound care. However, you are vital to the success of your own healing. You will need to keep your appointments, follow directions carefully and watch your progress closely between visits. We encourage open communication including any concerns or questions regarding your plan of care. It is also vital that you continue to see your primary care physician for routine medical care.

Education
Education of you and your caregivers is a high priority at Fawcett Wound Management. It is our goal to educate you about the obstacles to your healing, how to effectively dress and protect your wounds to encourage rapid wound healing, and how to prevent reoccurrence.
